Introducing the Shropshire County Premier Football League.

The Shropshire County Premier Football League is a Saturday league and offers competitive football to clubs who must be affiliated to an affiliated County FA and based within a 50 mile radius of Shrewsbury.
Althought our Premier Division champions can feed into the West Midlands Regional League (Second Division), the league itself is currently outside The National League System.
The League Consists of two divisions with 13 teams in the Premier Division and 12 teams in Division One, with annual promotion and relegation between each division.
The Champion Club or runners up from The Shropshire Alliance League, The Telford Combination and The Shropshire Minor League may be nominated by their existing leagues for membership at the end of each season.
In recent years, the following clubs have joined the County League from the above named feeder divisions.
Impact United (Telford Combination)
FC Hodnet (Shropshire Alliance)
Bobbington ( Telford Combination)
Ketley Bank United ( Telford Combination)

The league was formed in 1950 with 12 member clubs. They were Craven Arms, Dawley Athletic,Donnington Wood, Hadley Castle, Lilleshall Miners, Madeley Miners, Montgomery Town, Oswestry Town, Salopian Engineers, Shrewsbury Town, Wem Town and Whitchurch Alport Reserves.

Lilleshall Miners won the first league Championship and Donnington Wood lifted the first Divisional Cup.

Many clubs like Donnington Wood, GKN Sankeys, Albrighton, Snailbeach White Star, Bridgnorth Sports, Broseley Athletic, and Lawley Athletic have come and gone over the years while some former County League clubs have now established themselves in the National league system.

Market Drayton Town 88/89 - 97/98 (Unibond Southern Division 1).

Shifnal Town 69/70 - 75/76 & 86/87 - 92/93 (Midland Alliance).

Wellington Amateurs left the league at the end of 2006/07 as Premier Division runners up, and did themselves proud winning both the Second Division and First Division at their first attempt.

Hanwood United who were Champions to Wellington in 2006/07 joined the WMRL in 2008 and repeated  Amateurs success by storming the Second Division.

In 2009, Wem Town return to the WMRL after an absence of 15 years. There's no doubt everyone will be keeping an eye out to see if the Brewers can emulate the success achieved by County old Boys Wellington and Hanwood United.
